Total Defense offers a progressive curriculum complimenting the Ontario High School Curriculum, delivering expectations across all 4 strands: Physical Activity Active Living Healthy Living Living Skills OUR PROGRAM OFFERINGS INCLUDE: Carol Connor provides a safe and trusting environment as well as being a positive role model, utilizing a teaching style that focuses on individual differences and empowerment. BASIC SELF-DEFENSE A high energy participatory "hands on" program designed to focus on empowerment, street wise attitudes and effective physical and verbal self-defense techniques. INTERMEDIATE SELF-DEFENSE A high energy participatory "hands on" program designed to review Basic Self-Defense and introduce Intermediate Strategies and techniques. TOTAL BOOT CAMP Full Body Workout A challenging integrated full body cardio workout combining self-defense techniques while learning defensive tactics performed to high energy music with and without target shields. All programs consist of 5 lessons delivered during physical education class times in a gym or other appropriate venue. A variety of WORKSHOPS can also be arranged.
THE PROGRAM FEATURES INCLUDE: SAFETY Safe, high energy warm up and stretch prepare the body for activity without injury followed by effective physical self-defense techniques. FOCUS Lifesaving, physical and verbal self-defense skills focusing on PREVENTION, PROTECTION and PERSONAL SAFETY. SKILLS Easy to remember skills and techniques which focus on the attacker's weakest points. TEACHING AIDS Maximum quantities of equipment provide safe and productive practise sessions. TRAINING Total Defense training is crucial in making defensive skills INSTINCTIVE rather than an after thought. EVALUATION A written test is administered and marked by Total Defense Staff. CERTIFICATION Participants receive a certificate of participation upon completion of the Basic Defense and Intermediate Defense FUN Master Self-Defense Instructor Carol Connor provides a FUN and SAFE learning environment
Most people wouldn't dream of investing their time and money in something they hope to never use. Knock on wood that I will never need to defend myself, but if need be I have the skills and confidence to do so. Total Defense is one of the best investments I will ever make, as it is an investment in my personal safety. Each year my high school arranges for Carol to come in and teach self-defense during our phys. ed. classes for a week. I'm in grade 11 and I just completed my third crash course in self-defense. Over the years I have bonded with Carol and I will never forget her or what she has taught me. She is an amazing role model, strong woman with an incredible personality.
