Total Defense Head of Security Recovering From Emergency Back Surgery

On Monday March 28, 2011 a right T12-13 hemilaminectomy was performed on Molly's back. A large amount of extruded disk material was also removed as well as fenestrations performed at T12-13, T13-L1, L1-2, L2-3 and L3-4. In plain english Molly had back surgery.

Molly's surgery was performed by Dr. Greg Kilburn, DVM at the Veterinary Emergency Clinic (VEC). From the moment we walked into VEC we were treated with courtesy and kindness beginning from the reception team (Lori thank you for constant words of encouragement).

Jennifer Knez, Manager of Liberty Village Branch TD Canada Trust and her staff as well as Sandra McNash, Education Consultant Total Defense Inc. offered a fun filled afternoon with a delicious BBQ and amazing prizes.

What is Cyberbullying?

Cyberbullying is any harassment that occurs via the Internet. Vicious forum posts, name calling in chat rooms, posting fake profiles on web sites, and mean or cruel email messages are all ways of cyberbullying.

There are many things that can be done to combat cyberbullying. The most important thing a victim of cyberbullying can do is not respond to the bully. Do not play in to the bully's games. Do not answer emails, do not respond to posts, do not engage in a chat room exchange, and do not copy what the bully is doing. Ignore the bullying and get help from parents and teachers.

While ignoring the bully be sure to save the evidence so that school officials, Internet providers and even the police can properly deal with the bully. Cyberbullying may give bullies anonymity but it always leaves evidence.

OFSAA WOMEN'S SPORT SCHOOL 2010

The 2010 OFSAA Women's Sport School was held on May 13th and14th, 2010 at Humber College North Campus in Toronto. This conference is a professional development event that brings together teacher-coaches from across the province to share ideas and get motivated. The program encompasses a wide variety of sessions for both curricular and co-curricular programs with sessions geared to high school and elementary school teachers. The aim of the Women’s Sport School is to increase participants’ knowledge in several areas of school sport, expose them to new/unconventional sports, teaching methods, as well as provide opportunities for discussion groups with peers.

Total Defense was invited to the OFSAA Women’s Sport School Conference and presented a Total Boot Camp Session. We had a fun experience and look forward to returning in 2011.

Olympic Champion Dominique Bosshart

Two time Olympic Athlete Dominique Bosshart was the only Canadian entrant in Taekwondo at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney Australia. She made history with BRONZE MEDAL. It's the first official Olympic Medal for Canada in the sport of Taekwondo.

Dominique joined Total Defense at Middlefield Collegiate and shared her experience and expertise with the students.

I had the pleasure today of speaking at the York Region Baby and Kid's Show at the Markham Fairgrounds.

Not only were there many vendors with amazing products for babies and kids there was also the anticiapted event of the year, the Mom-to-Mom Sale.

A Mom-to-Mom Sale is essentially a huge rummage sale where you can buy gently used baby and kids' items directly from sellers. Great deals on second hand baby clothing, kids' clothing, toys, games, furniture and gear.

Clearly the best part for me was meeting Minnie Mouse!

If you really have to get together with someone you “met” online, don’t go alone. Have the meeting in a public place, tell a parent or some other solid backup, and bring some friends along. USING THE INTERNET FOR SCHOOL ASSIGNMENTS If you use information you find on the Internet for school assignments, make sure you check first to see if it is true, and credit it properly. INSTRUCT YOUR CHILD TO RUN IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION if approached by someone in an automobile.
TELL YOUR CHILD TO "Drop The Backpack!" BEFORE THEY RUN. Your child will be able to run faster withouth the weight of a backpack!
USE A PASSWORD for times when you must have an adult, whom the child doesn't know, pick up the child. Pick a password with 2 words that don't go together. Example: Blue Buffalo.

Total Defense offers a progressive curriculum complimenting the Ontario High School Curriculum, delivering expectations across all 4 strands: Physical Activity Active Living Healthy Living Living Skills OUR PROGRAM OFFERINGS INCLUDE: Carol Connor provides a safe and trusting environment as well as being a positive role model, utilizing a teaching style that focuses on individual differences and empowerment. BASIC SELF-DEFENSE A high energy participatory "hands on" program designed to focus on empowerment, street wise attitudes and effective physical and verbal self-defense techniques. INTERMEDIATE SELF-DEFENSE A high energy participatory "hands on" program designed to review Basic Self-Defense and introduce Intermediate Strategies and techniques. TOTAL BOOT CAMP Full Body Workout A challenging integrated full body cardio workout combining self-defense techniques while learning defensive tactics performed to high energy music with and without target shields. All programs consist of 5 lessons delivered during physical education class times in a gym or other appropriate venue. A variety of WORKSHOPS can also be arranged.

Most people wouldn't dream of investing their time and money in something they hope to never use. Knock on wood that I will never need to defend myself, but if need be I have the skills and confidence to do so. Total Defense is one of the best investments I will ever make, as it is an investment in my personal safety. Each year my high school arranges for Carol to come in and teach self-defense during our phys. ed. classes for a week. I'm in grade 11 and I just completed my third crash course in self-defense. Over the years I have bonded with Carol and I will never forget her or what she has taught me. She is an amazing role model, strong woman with an incredible personality. She builds a special relationship with everyone in the class and by the end of the week she has changed us all for the better. I urge you to take that step, sign up for a class with Total Defense.
